The ARROYO HEALING NETWORK

THE ARROYO is a healing haven for individuals and

communities of the African Diaspora, especially descendents of Africans who survived the

Middle

Passage voyage, and

the

healers and artists who serve them.

In addition, THE ARROYO

is a space

for healers and artists to share their experiences in a supportive environment, as

well as to offer

services, skills, and products ranging from custom jewelry, herbal medicines,

poetry, storytelling,

drumming, organizational management, and consulting.

African Festival of the Arts: Labor Day Weekend 2006

For the fourth year, The Arroyo Healing Network provided a healing space at the African

Festival

of the Arts in Hyde

Park, Chicago. What a success!

Adupe to Olodumare, the Aje, the Orisas, and our Egun!

Adupe to all those who came out to support us.

Adupe to the festival organizers and sponsors for the space and trust to heal our community.

We were featured on WVON on the

Cliff Kelly Show

. It was a wonderful opportunity for me to

share with the

community not only the work of Arroyo, but the foundation of our work: African

ways of life can and do provide

strong foundations for communities to heal and grow.

Approximately 10 practitioners worked with us this year, including three certified massage

therapists. Still, we

needed more space and more practitioners. On average, we served 15-20

people a day for one-two hour sessions.

People who visited us last year returned - and brought friends and family. People who met us

for

the first time

returned the following days with more friends and family. People asked for

miracles and received miracles.

People asked for healing and received healing. People asked for love, clarity, and affirmation

for their lives. And the

received.

We received it all

and learned as much about ourselves as we did about the people we

served.

Based on this experience, we

know

that our community hungers for this work and healing. We

are here to serve you

and will be

reating

ways to provide more services, classes, and

information to you.
